A finals night that showed what touch rugby can be

Brompton Lodge Bobcats finished the 2026 NPL season as champions, beating Borrowby Broncos 4-1 in the final. The result mattered, but the bigger story was the community that formed around the competition.

Across the season, children, women and men shared the same Friday-night space: families on the touchline, new players learning the game, experienced rugby people competing hard, and social teams playing alongside the title contenders. That mix is the point of the NPL. It is competitive, welcoming, visible and local.
